Chamber Ensemble of the Académie de l’Opéra Royal de Versailles

Annually, Royal Opera of Versailles presents more than a hundred performances and collaborates with leading names and international performers who take turns on its prestigious stage. The Royal Opera Orchestra was founded in 2019 on the staging of John Corigliano’s Les Fantômes de Versailles. It is dedicated to a wide repertoire ranging from Baroque to Classicism and Romanticism. Given the history of the place whose name it bears, the core of its repertoire consists of music from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The orchestra works with several conductors throughout the season and has a flexible line-up, adapting to the needs of individual projects by the Royal Opera and Château de Versailles Spectacles.
It tours extensively, showcasing its virtuosity on the most prestigious stages in France and abroad. In 2024, the orchestra completed a fifteen-concert tour of Asia, and in 2025 it embarked on a tour of North America. As a key representative of the Château de Versailles Spectacles label (winner of the 2022 Label of the Year award from the International Classical Music Awards), Royal Opera Orchestra is actively involved in its recording activities.

Gaétan Jarry

French conductor and organist Gaétan Jarry is the founder of Marguerite Louise, a Baroque choir and orchestra. He is a graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris and has also won several first prizes from conservatories in Versailles and Saint-Maur-des-Fossés.
Gaétan Jarry is also one of the principal guest conductors of the Royal Opera Orchestra in Versailles, with which he has staged many productions, including The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, and The Abduction from the Seraglio. His discography, comprising some fifteen recordings acclaimed by international critics, is largely devoted to French Baroque music, to which he brings the aesthetics of the Marguerite Louise ensemble – whether in repertoire for large choirs and orchestras, operas, or grandiose royal motets by composers such as Jean-Baptiste Lully, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Michel-Richard de Lalande, Jean-Philippe Rameau, and Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville.
As a soloist, he released the album Noëls baroques à Versailles, recorded on the grand organ of the Royal Chapel in Versailles in collaboration with Pages du Centre de musique baroque de Versailles. He followed this recording with other projects devoted to the French Baroque organ repertoire, organ concertos by George Frideric Handel, and the opera David et Jonathas by Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
