Program

Czech painter Denisa Krausová will guide a group of children not only through the secrets of Baroque art, but also help them create their own vision of a Baroque sky.

Topic: Baroque Sky in Pastel

The aim of this art workshop is to introduce children to Baroque art and its characteristic features, especially in the context of celestial scenes depicted on the doors of the Golden Carriage. The workshop also seeks to foster their creativity through hands-on artistic work using pastels.
The session will begin with a presentation, during which the children will hear a short introduction to Baroque art. They will become familiar with its defining characteristics and significant elements. Special attention will be given to the depiction of the sky, including angels, clouds, and dramatic lighting effects. The children will then be invited to share what they already know about the Baroque and what they imagine under the term “Baroque sky.”
The main activity will last 45 minutes, during which the children will create their own interpretations of a Baroque sky using pastels. Materials provided will include pastels, paper (ideally with texture for a better effect), cloths or paper tissues for blending and wiping colours. The children will be encouraged to incorporate elements such as angels, clouds, and stars, and to work with dramatic colours reflecting the Baroque style. During this part of the workshop, the doors of the Golden Carriage as well as selected examples of Baroque paintings will be shown for inspiration.
The total duration of the workshop is planned for three hours.
