Violinist Cosima Soulez Larivière and pianist Martina Consonni will present the best of 19th and 20th century French instrumental music at the Empire-style Pohansko Mansion. The programme features works by César Franck, Olivier Messiaen, and impressionists Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy.
Cosima Soulez Larivière
French-Dutch violinist Cosima Soulez Larivière began her musical education with Igor Volochin. At the age of eight, she received a scholarship to the Yehudi Menuhin School, where she studied with Natasha Boyarskaya. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover in Krzysztof Węgrzyn’s class and recently completed her postgraduate studies at the Kronberg Academy under Mihaela Martin. She furthered her education by participating in several prestigious academies (MS PrussiaCove, Accademia Chigiana, Seiji Ozawa Academy, Ravinia – Steans Institute, Verbier Festival Academy, Tanglewood Music Center, and Chamber Music Connects the World at Kronberg Academy). She has gained international recognition thanks to her numerous successes at prestigious competitions (3rd prize at the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition, 1st prize at the first Bartók World Competition & Festival, 1st prize at the Brahms Competition, and 3rd prize along with the Prize for Interpretation of Works by J. S. Bach at the Postacchini Competition).
She has performed with major orchestras around the world and has been invited to perform at the Lockenhaus (Austria), Ukaria 24 (South Australia), and Chigiana (Italy) festivals, where she has appeared alongside artists such as I. Gringolts, O. Mustonen, M. Helmchen, and I. Levit. She also frequently performs with her brother, violist Sàe Soulez Larivière.
She plays a violin by Giovanni Grancino (Milan, 1675), kindly loaned by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
Martina Consonni
Martina Consonni is one of the most outstanding pianists of her generation. She studied at a number of prestigious institutions (Imola International Academy “Incontri col Maestro”, Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin and Kronberg Academy) under Enrico Pace, Arie Vardi, and András Schiff. Since her debut at the age of ten with the Bacău Philharmonic Orchestra, she has performed on many of the world’s most prestigious stages under the baton of leading conductors and is a regular guest at major international festivals. She is equally at home as a soloist and chamber musician and has collaborated with several leading artists (Gautier Capuçon, Steven Isserlis, Tabea Zimmermann and Diyang Mei).
The winner of more than 55 first prizes at international competitions, she has received the Daniele Gay Prize for the best young Italian talent and the Roscini-Padalino Prize awarded by the Perugia Musica Classica festival. She is a laureate of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon and a scholarship holder of the De Sono, Freunde Junger Musiker Berlin, and Villa Musica institutions. In the 2023/2024 season, she was selected for the prestigious Sir András Schiff – Building Bridges and Classeek Ambassador Programmes.
Her discography includes recordings for the renowned labels Warner Classics and Movimento Classical (Bartók Studios). Her latest album, recorded with violinist Sarah Jégou-Sageman and cellist Jeein You, received five-star reviews and was praised by BBC Music Magazine for its “brilliant piano playing” and “extraordinary ensemble mastery.”
