A jewel of Viennese Baroque architecture – Garden Palace Liechtenstein, which underwent a complete renovation worth EUR 25 million in 2001-2003 – hides part of one of the largest private art collections in the world. Princely Collection, including 1700 paintings from the Renaissance to the Biedermeier period, is compiled from the works of Lucas Cranach the Elder, Raffael, Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck, Rembrandt, Frans Hals and many others. For example, there is a unique cycle Decius Mus by Peter Paul Rubens or famous The Golden Carriage, in which Joseph Wenzel I entered Paris solemnly on December 21, 1738 as the newly appointed imperial ambassador to France. In addition to these gems, Garden Palace Liechtenstein also offers a great collection of Italian bronze sculptures of the 16th and 17th centuries, examples of prints, engravings, furniture, ivory, porcelain and tapestries.
