Discover the beauty of the Lednice-Valtice area with us! Minaret Lednice, a pearl of Moorish style in our country

Near Lednice Castle you will find the oldest romantic building in the Lednice-Valtice area and one of the largest buildings of this kind in non-Islamic countries. The minaret with its height of over 60 metres was built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and from its top you can admire not only the whole Lednice-Valtice area.

Three viewing galleries are open to the public and from its top you can enjoy a view of the picturesque surrounding landscape of Pálava, the White Carpathians and the castle pond with the castle standing nearby. On the first floor you will find restored lounges. In the one-storey prismatic base with arcades, there are eight rooms with oriental decorations, which served as a museum of Liechtenstein’s exotic collections.  However, the lounges were inaccessible to the public for a long time and only recently opened in 2017. The interior decoration is impressive, with quotes from the Koran adorning the walls, and oriental ornaments on the ceilings, walls and floor. These works, according to experts, were carried out by artists from Arab countries. The original mosaics were severely damaged by static failures suffered by the minaret after the regulation of the river Dyje. At that time, the ground beneath the minaret, which stands on oak poles, began to dry out and the entire oriental tower began to tilt. Now the lounges have been restored and some of the original furnishings from the early 19th century can be seen.

You can reach the lookout tower after a 1.5 km walk through the chateau park on a straight path, or you can use the boat transport on the chateau Dyje from the dock at the chateau.
