Topic: From Ornament to Form
This workshop connects the historical beauty of Baroque art with the principles of contemporary graphic design. Students will focus on reinterpreting the motif of the Golden Carriage as a symbol of Baroque magnificence, movement, and light through modern geometric forms and minimalist visual aesthetics.
The introductory part will present the artistic principles of the Baroque period – dynamism, ornament, rhythm, and light contrast. These principles will then be translated into a contemporary design language working with reduction of form, structure, composition, and surface rhythm.
The main part will be devoted to creating a graphic abstraction inspired by the Golden Carriage. Students will analyse its shape, curves, details, and ornaments and transform them into geometric compositions evoking movement, light, or structure. They will use a combination of manual and digital techniques (drawing, vector graphics, collage, texture layering).
The aim is to demonstrate how a historical artefact can be transformed into a contemporary visual symbol – clean, stylised, and aesthetically powerful. The theme offers space for experimentation and for seeking balance between the past and modern design. The outcome will consist of original posters or graphic compositions.
The total duration of the workshop is planned for four hours.
