How can an 18th-century Baroque opera speak to today’s audiences? The documentary follows the unique project of director Clément Cogitore and choreographer Bintou Dembélé, who brought 30 hip-hop and breakdance dancers onto the stage of the Paris Opera. Together, they revive Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes, merging urban dance with the world of opera. The film captures not only the artistic process from rehearsals to premiere, but also deeper social and political questions related to representation, diversity, and access to elite culture. An explosive fusion of tradition and contemporary expression that transforms the face of opera.
