The anniversary year of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival is highlighted by Music from the New World. This year\u2019s exceptional edition brought together American music and artists with the history of the region. Just as in the past when seeds of rare trees and plants travelled to the Lednice-Valtice area from the New World, the organisers are bringing beautiful music from the same place metaphorically. Off programmes will present a unique herbarium depicting images from all over the world brought to Valtice and Lednice. Symphony No. 9, a renewed premiere of a sacred composition originally from the local Convent of the Merciful Brothers, top performers and orchestras from home and abroad. The synergy of various artists enhanced by the genius loci leads to a breathtaking result \u2013 as we are used to in the case of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival. And which we eagerly await.<\/p>\n

Thus, I wish the anniversary edition of the festival a success and its visitors and guests an intense and unforgettable experience!<\/p>\n

Since 2016, we have been following the development of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival, which aims to honor and recall the cultural, historical, and architectural heritage of our family in the landscape that we have shaped for centuries.<\/p>\n

Each year, the festival presents a carefully crafted program, drawing from the history of South Moravia and specific stories connected to our family. Whether it is prominent personalities, historical events, architectural landmarks, or symbols like the hunting season, these motifs find their artistic expression in the concerts and accompanying programs. The venues \u2013 castles, salets, churches, and gardens \u2013 come to life through music, becoming a stage that naturally reminds us of our historical presence and our role as patrons of the arts and learning.<\/p>\n

We especially appreciate that the festival is not only a concert event but also places great emphasis on the education of younger generations. Projects for schools, children\u2019s music and arts programs, and the involvement of students in organizational support bring cultural heritage closer to new generations with reverence, creativity, and care.<\/p>\n

With gratitude and respect, we follow this initiative, which dignifiedly develops the values that have been inherent in our family for centuries.<\/p>\n

Dear friends of South Moravia and fans of classical music,<\/p>\n

On behalf of the city of Brno, I would like to thank you for \u201cdragging me\u201d into the successful concept of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival. At first sight, Brno is quite far from the unique landscape complex. Nevertheless, it reveals interesting connections \u2013 the prologue takes place in Reduta Theatre in Brno, which was once the basis for the palace of the Liechtenstein family.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, this year\u2019s 10th edition of the festival will feature works by Erich W. Korngold (the co-founder of film music in the US who was born in Brno) and Jan Nov\u00e1k (he studied in Brno and is buried there). And we also share a love of culture, as well as good wine and food. That being said, I look forward to a mutual artistic intervention. I wish you all not only the pleasant concert in Brno, but also the whole anniversary festival.<\/p>\n

On the 10th anniversary of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival, I am delighted the program so enthusiastically highlights the music and musicians connecting our two countries. This opportunity to underscore our shared musical history takes place in a unique setting where the very environment works in harmony with the pieces and artists being presented.<\/p>\n

The opening concert demonstrates how tightly our musical traditions are woven together, as conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong leads the Jan\u00e1\u010dek Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava and the audience on an unforgettable journey through the compositions of Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. That journey continues pianist Rachel Breen guiding listeners through the history of America music, starting with Bohemia-born Anton Philipp Heinrich.<\/p>\n

I applaud \u0160kampa Quartet for interpreting composer Caroline Shaw, the winner of Pulitzer and Grammy Awards, and Berg Orchestra sharing the work of the celebrated Philip Glass in Mikulov. The bread of American music will be further represented by Voices of Kings Return and Martin\u016f Voices through their performance of the unique tradition of spirituals, a further demonstration of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival\u2019s commitment to both excellence and creativity in curation.<\/p>\n

We look forward to another year of exceptional New World performances in Moravia as we build on a deep and strong foundation of cultural exchange in Moravia.<\/p>\n

With great joy and pride, we welcome Israeli pianist Boris Giltburg to be the opening performer of this year’s jubilee edition of the Lednice-Valtice International Music Festival.<\/p>\n

It is already a tradition yet an honor for us that once again Israeli musicians are being presented as part of the festival. It shows the wonderful connection the Czech Republic have, and the power of music and culture to build bridges between nations and hearts. “Music from the New World” is the name of this year\u2019s 10th anniversary edition of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival. Every year I admire the imagination of the organisers of this unique musical event for always being able to connect the history of the region with contemporary and timeless themes in an original way.<\/p>\n

This year, it is about connecting American music and artists with the history and captivating beauty of the Moravian South. The princely Liechtenstein gardener Joseph van der Schott, who carefully selected and shipped seeds and young trees across the Atlantic, did not have the opportunity we have to see his work grow into a magnificent landscape composition. It takes decades for a massive tree to grow.<\/p>\n

However, it is different with music. Sheet music can be brought to life faster than a tree can grow. No need to wait for decades. Composers had and have the ability to hear the harmony of the notes they create almost immediately. We can enjoy music for which no ocean is too wide and no mountain too high that it cannot reach out and touch human hearts, open to the beauty and harmony on this or that shore.<\/p>\n

So I wish this year\u2019s Lednice-Valtice Music Festival and all its visitors many beautiful artistic experiences that will brighten the days of the coming autumn with the radiance of the undying beauty of art.<\/p>\n

This year we are celebrating a significant anniversary \u2013 it\u2019s been ten years since we were the only sponsor to get behind this festival. Back then it was the dream of the founder, who wanted to build a festival with a long tradition and quality comparable to the world’s musical achievements – and my father believed in it from the very beginning. The enthusiasm and vision of the two of them led us as a family to this path, which we are proud to support to this day.<\/p>\n

As a Czech family, we deeply respect our roots, culture and traditions. That is why this year\u2019s festival is special for us \u2013 it pays tribute to American music. As we live in the United States, this connection between two worlds that have shaped me is very powerful and moving for me.<\/p>\n

Maybe I\u2019m repeating myself \u2013 I actually say this every year. But you know what? It is absolutely okay. Because that\u2019s what this festival is all about. About repetition in the sense of perseverance, continuity and maintaining values that make sense. A faith that endures. In today\u2019s turbulent world, full of uncertainty and division, music is one of the few things that can bring us together \u2013 across cultures, generations and borders. That is what my father believed and what we still believe today.<\/p>\n

We would also like to express our deep acknowledgement to the founder of the festival, Ji\u0159\u00ed Partyka. Without his determination, creativity and perseverance, this bold dream would never have become a reality. His work and perseverance have created a tradition that unites so many of us today – and we are honoured to have been there from the beginning.<\/p>\n

The festival director did not disappoint and chose an interesting thematic focus for the 10th anniversary edition of the festival once again \u2013 a combination of American music and artists with the history and beauty of the Lednice-Valtice area. Instead of importing trees and seeds from America, as the Liechtenstein gardener Joseph van der Schott did, the festival will bring top American artists and music by composers associated not only with this region.<\/p>\n

I am pleased that one of the concerts is once again traditionally held here in B\u0159eclav, at the former Liechtenstein hunting lodge in Mansion Pohansko.<\/p>\n

I am very pleased to greet you on behalf of the town of Valtice in connection with the 10th annual Lednice-Valtice Music Festival. Thanks to the organizers, this festival has become one of the most important cultural events in our country in the field of classical music. This year, in addition to 11 concerts, the festival again offers a very varied off programme which also includes lectures that will certainly attract many listeners with their variety of topics.<\/p>\n

One of the lectures is about the work of Valtice natives, the Bauer brothers. Norbertus Adamus Boccius, Prior of the Convent of the Merciful Brothers in Valtice, a doctor and botanist, recognised their extraordinary talent.<\/p>\n

I am much more pleased that the first book written in Czech by children about such world-famous natives of our town Valtice is being prepared. Let me wish this year\u2019s festival a peaceful organizing and a profound artistic experience for all visitors and performers.<\/p>\n

Dear friends of LVMF,<\/p>\n

In the late 19th century when Johann II, Prince of Liechtenstein, commissioned his gardener Joseph van der Schott to import trees and seeds from America for the grounds he was building, he certainly had no idea that this instruction would become the inspiration for the music festival. The turn of September and October, when the festival takes place, is the time when the so-called painting and art composition of our unique area is in full strength. If this picturesque nature is complemented by the picturesque sounds, the ideas and visions with which the Liechtenstein family landscaped the premises around their estates will come to fruition. Ji\u0159\u00ed Partyka and his team are succeeding in making this connection happen with ever-increasing quality.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s 10th anniversary edition of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival brings us top performers and music by composers associated from the North America. What is exceptional is its wide range of accompanying events for the public and for hundreds of schoolchildren.<\/p>\n

Dear fans of beautiful tones,<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s 10th edition of the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival brings further unique pieces of beautiful music. It connects the small town of Valtice with the whole world. Through the Bauer brothers, who are better known abroad than here, we perceive culture that influences our lives. And just as the Bauer brothers have enriched the visual arts with their unparalleled work of herbaria, so too have other personalities, fellow brothers of our Valtice Convent, contributed to the music collection in the Convent. I am glad that LVMF is going beyond music and connecting the beauty of culture as a whole. It also draws attention to our national pride, because many great personalities have grown up on our territory. When God created the world, he saw that it was good. Throughout LVMF we can thank God for the gifts and beauty that many have left us, though they are no longer with us. We can also thank the artists who bring the art to us.
